Cookie Policy
Short version: we use the bare minimum. No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers. Details below.
1. What is a cookie
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser during your visit. It allows the site to remember information between pages or visits. Similar technologies (localStorage, sessionStorage) are treated the same way.
2. Cookies we use
2.1. Strictly necessary cookies
- Authentication token (HTTPOnly secure cookie): keeps your session logged in. Duration: session or up to 30 days depending on your "remember me" choice.
- CSRF token: protects against Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks. Duration: session.
These cookies are essential to the Service. Without them, you cannot log in. No consent is required for these cookies (ePrivacy Directive art. 5(3) and international equivalents).
2.2. Preferences (localStorage)
- Interface language (
wattahead-lang): stores your language choice (FR/EN). Duration: persistent until you clear it. - Theme (where applicable): stores your light/dark preference.
This data stays in your browser. It is never transmitted to WattAhead.
2.3. Third-party cookies
None. No Google Analytics, Plausible, PostHog, Mixpanel, Facebook, LinkedIn, Hotjar, or equivalent. If we add a privacy-respecting analytics tool in the future (typically self-hosted Plausible or cookie-less PostHog), this page will be updated before activation.
3. CDN cookies (Cloudflare)
Cloudflare, which serves the site, may set a technical cookie __cf_bm (30-minute duration) for bot management and attack protection. This cookie contains no personal identifier and is not used for advertising.
4. How to manage or delete cookies
You can control cookies from your browser:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy.
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent dashboard login. Blocking localStorage will reset your preferences on every visit.
5. Changes
If we add or modify cookies, we will update this page. If a consent-requiring cookie is introduced, a dedicated banner will appear.
